Working on Boromir's surcoat clasps for
wicked_swann. Finalized the design on the broadhead pouch for the quiver today while babysitting the company's advertising booth at a homeschool convention. 2 nights ago I set the gems for the leaves for the Telperion branch of the quiver body design (love marquise cut gems for leaves). Yesterday I got the pitch so I can do the clasps properly with the hammer and not have to worry about the metal sliding all over the place as I hammer it. I usually use a much thinner gauge metal that I can mount in paraffin wax, but these clasps deserve better.
I won my dispute with the guy I had bought my blade from. It never showed up, so PayPal refunded my money after the seller declined to respond to *anything.* So I bought a bare blade from a place in Thailand that does the forging themselves. *crosses fingers*
I also managed to secure a loan from Citibank for my business so I can get things like, oh, a real kiln and restock my barstock. I plan to write off a lot of my Gil-Galad's Scout costume to advertising. :)
I think I'm going to have to swallow something and call my grandfather, who is a real jeweler and taught me the basics many years ago, before we had a falling out over my daughter and marriage. Long story, but the short of it is he's a bona fide Kentucky boy who just didn't understand my mate choices.
Anyway, I have to sit the booth again tomorrow, but I will post some pics of the Boromir stuff as soon as I can.
So much for briefly... :)
