From the stimulatingly bright colors of Target's holiday aisle I plucked a little package of sugar free Jelly Belly beans this afternoon. Because too much sugary candy on an emptyish stomach makes me feel icky sometimes. After slowly finishing the two-serving package over the course of the evening, I perused the package and found, next to an assurance of "finest food ingredients," this Warning, capital W: "Consumption may cause stomach discomfort and/or laxative effect. Individual tolerance will vary. We suggest starting with 8 beans or less." 8 beans?! Less?? Why the F did you put 70 in the package?! How is this acceptable? I mean, it's obviously not life threatening ... I suppose too much melon can have the same effect ... not like it should be illegal ... but really, why even make a candy of which one can only comfortably eat 10 grams?? 8 beans?! Ha.

PS. I should add that they had no actual negative effect, aside from temporary shock.
