Let me preface by saying I have possibly the best boss ever, so I can't really complain about life. BUT I can complain about this awful, unexplainable habit I have of locking myself out of places.
So this boss, let's call her J--, said I could hang out and do laundry at her place while her and her partner were gone for the weekend. Fabulous, I thought; she even drove me and my laundry to her place while we were on lunch Friday.
I guess her dog-sitting friend needed to not dog-sit for a while, because when I came back this morning, her dog Maya plus some other dog were inside looking anxious. Here's the sequence of events -- see if you can find where i went wrong: I unlock the door, put down my purse, pet the dog, step onto the porch, close the door behind me to keep the guest dog inside, latch Maya to her rope, turn around and find the door locked. Apparently unlocking it doesn't actually leave it unlocked. I sat outside for a while until I was bored with the sun, then woke up a neighbor boy to borrow some paper with which to leave a note for the dog-sitting friend.
If I was a generally incompetent person, I'd maybe not be quite so shocked at locking myself out of places all the time. I jsut don't understand ...
