February Love Meme Day 18 - Dreaming of Castles in the Sky
It's probably too many fairy tals in my childhood, but I would love to have a tiny castle to retreat to (gotta win the Lotto first, but that’s the plan…). This tiny castle rebuilt in Sparta is amazing, what a history.

So, apparently, Washingtonians like castles? Go figure. There are a number of B&B type places that are historical by USian standards, not European.
Washington State castle for sale (not sure if it still is). Denning Castle comes with 20 acres, so the price is a bit higher. I like the setting, the privacy, and the bridge. The tower deck is fun. This visionary made this place by hand and it was a true labor of love. I'm sad he had to sell it due to an injury making it too much for him to care for. But at least he finished it and was able to enjoy it.

The home has two bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a 52-foot spiral staircase, two turrets, a dungeon and a wine cellar. The walls are 18 inches thick and there's 82 yards of concrete in the foundation. Most of the materials are locally sourced, right down to the stones in the home's facade and driveway. He bought them in Tacoma after seeing an ad announcing the city was selling off rubble from a deconstructed road. The stones were 50 cents each, and he bought ten truckloads.

A tiny (288 sq. ft.) castle on Lake Chelan that sold in 2016 for 75K. It would be fun to build a tiny castle. Or a hobbit house.
