I tried to fight it off the paste few days by taking
Cold Quell, which is this traditional Chinese herbal remedy that sometimes works. (
See TCM for SARS clinical studies). No luck, though. I woke up achey, congested, and a bit feverish.
So, I hope you Thanksgiving celebrators all had a lovely holiday. I spent it with
jescaflowne and family, and it was good to see her cute children and eat yummy food that I didn't have to cook. ;) Rich made this delish sweet potato casserole with this crunchy pecan topping (like pecan pie over sweet potatoes), and Jess made her apple salad and this incredible brussel sprouts side with bacon, browned onions, and pistachios, and we chowed down.
On Sunday, my second mother and I ate the turkey I won at the T-birds turkey shoot in November. So I ended up cooking a bit (mashed potatoes plus assembling a spinach salad with dried cranberries, toasted pecans, gorgonzola, and raspberry vianigrette; I also provided some pastries from
Fresh Flours--a cranberry-apple galette and a fresh pear danish, which we shared). My second mother roasted the turkey made her sausage-chestnut stuffing and a cranberry-orange-walnut relish. Her gravy was particularly good this year.
