Happy Spring, lovely people! I hope you are having a bright one.

So, it's been about six weeks since I posted last: life's been oppressively about work. I won't lock this one, as I usually do for work posts, but I'll stay away from specifics. You know I've had issues with my current manager, the one I've had since the end of September? Well, I still have the same guy, but it's going a bit better. (I still think I should find new job by summer if I can.) I've been moved to a new team, and since mid-January have been training in my new role in problem management. I'm sometimes on call, like I am this weekend, and I have deadlines that had me working 6 days a week most weeks. These past two weekends are the only ones I haven't worked since the beginning of February.

On the personal side: I raised the minimum required to do the AFSP Overnight Walk in June, so I requested time off then. Thanks to those here on LJ who donated--you are so generous and kind to support my efforts, in memory of my son, to raise money for suicide prevention and research. I've been walking as much as I can, but the cold wet weather here has made my arthritic knee flare up some days, so it's slow going for now.

My garden is awake, and the wood violets have spread to a other places, and they are blooming prettily. I've weeded most of the front yard and side of the house and am contemplating getting an arborist to look at my big tree our front.

Family worries: My nephew has taken a turn for the worse, and we are concerned about the damage his drinking has done to his body. I'm hoping he can get disability as he has no health insurance or job, and my mom can't afford to pay his medical bills. I've been sending her whatever I can each month to help. So has my second mother, and even my ex sent her a check.

It hasn't been all grim... Fun things I've done since my last post: Gaughin exhibit at SAM, Poverty Bay Wine Festival, Sounders opening match against Toronto, Dan Savage and Fran Leibowitz on stage.

Fannishly: I have not been up to much at all. For a while there in Jan-Feb I would occasionally read some BBC Sherlock or XMFC fic, but even that has been rare the last few weeks. I've been reading genre fiction (SF, urban fantasy, or mysteries) on the bus.

I did sign up for Vividcon and got those days off in August, and next weekend I will be at Pacificon, AKA Bitchin' Party, however! So there will be some fannish fun soon.

Media: My second mother and I have watched S1 and S2 of Downton Abbey and loved it. I have been slowly catching up on The Walking Dead. I'm planning that marathon with D for the last 3-4 eps, but I might watch one of those if I can't stand the wait.
