I still need a semi-recent copy of Adobe Illustrator.
Sunday I started a new corset in hopes of wearing it to the Asian themed night at Malediction. Sunday also happened to be the day of my phone going off like crazy. I had so many fricking text messages it wasn't funny. I need to be so many things to so many people: secretary, therapist, booking agent, etc. So because of all that, I didn't finish the corset in time to wear that night. It is probably for the best since I would have had to clip all the boning to size and this forces me to order the correct sizes since I am no longer pushed against the deadline. But all it needs is boning inserted into the channels and then the binding at the top. I tried it on and WOW. Even without the boning, it feels great, looks awesome, and of course, it is reversable. I used the left over brown and gold striped fabric (that somehow goes with so many eras and cultures it isn't funny) from my Turkish belly dancer costume (jacket), and the other side is black cordoroy. It is an under bust pattern that I had made awhile back, but I altered it dramatically to fit me better. I lowered the top front about an inch and changed the edge to fit the girls in better. Then I dropped the lower edge 2 inches and flared it out just a little so that I can really cinch in my waist without having the unsightly ridge along the lower edge. I can't wait to wear it!
So because I couldn't get the corset done in time. I wore my blue over bust one, with a black form fitted turtle neck shirt with asian symbols on it, black skirt, and red hapi (or is it happy?) over it like a jacket. Jetti, my dance floor girlfriend (we just dance and smack each other around usually), she kissed me and totally caught me off guard with it, since her boyfriend was right behind her when she did it. Anyways, it was really crowded and hot, but fun.
Monday, I went with Tina to the IE, to visit with Shuan and start making Halloween. This year we are adding another 20 feet of the haunting experience and a lot of new special effects. BTW, SAVE ALL OF THOSE PLASTIC FILM CONTAINERS (35mm) BECAUSE IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND AND ACQUIRE THEM, EVEN FROM THE PHOTOMAT! We need a lot of them for on of our effects and running all over town looking for them, only got us 9, we need at least 41 more, especially the black ones. Please help us find them. So I spent all day Monday out there, making Halloween, and then playing a wierd card game called Gloom. We didn't get to finish the game, but I might be putting it on my xmas list.
Tuesday, I measured out the boning for the corset and ordered it. Then I did some cleaning, and tried to tie up some loose ends. I am still waiting to hear back about a possible commission from the gallery, and a possible new project I have not told a soul about because I don't want to jinx it. I also got some details about the changing of owneership at 2nd Street. They are having a curator "give it a go" this one time during the change over (for September) and then it is back to me to curate for the long haul. Apparently the new owner likes my art and the artists I bring in, so they are keeping me.
Wednesday, I cleaned and organized in the studio. I have along ways to go, but it is a lot better already. I can use both tables now! I am going to clean in there some more today. Then last night was the traditional movie night at Brian's house. His new room mate seems pretty cool. I also got to see Grand Theft Auto IV in action. Wow. The work that went into that game. I came home and went back to cleaning in the studio.
