Sprog's Development

Dec 31, 2006 16:55

A purely delighted post:

Sprog is 9 months old now, and doing really well. She's been sleeping through the night (7pm-7am) for months now, and generally has 2 naps of 1-2 hours each in addition. She scoots, rolls, crawls, and walks when holding onto things. She will pull herself up in her crib or to stand holding the couch by herself, and the house has been entirely baby proofed with outlet covers, cuboard latches and gates for about two weeks now.

She eats scraps of table food as well as baby food, and shows a decided preference for grains and fruits, except bananas. She holds her bottle by herself (I was forced to stop breastfeeding three months ago when my medication dried up my milk supply) and is capable of feeding herself crackers and cheerios. She has two obvious teeth on the bottom in the front, and two not so obvious ones on the top, just poking through.

She babbles continuously, with dada and baby making appearances often, although still without specific meaning, I think. She does respond to her own name, and laughs delightedly when played with, especially with her dad.

She weighs 18 1/2 pounds, is 29 inches tall, and is just outgrowing her wardrobe of 9-12 month sized clothes. She's taller than 75% of girls her age, with an average weight, and big chipmunk cheeks.

Most, if not all of her development is absolutely average, but I am so tickled by her every move as a first time parent that I just needed to post this to revel in all her recent growth.

Bonus mental image for those of you who read to the very end: Sprog trying to walk in socks on my parents recently waxed hardwoods after learning to move in a house with wall to wall: priceless!
