So I’ve been adding some Bridal Accessories to my Etsy store,
the Raven’s Trove, and I have a few more pieces in the works. Why bridal items? Because when I’m working at
the store, I keep hearing about women who go to bridal shops and spend hundreds to thousands of dollars on items that took 1-2 hours to make and less than $50 in materials. Some of it is understandable (hand embroidery, custom work), others are simply a rip off. It’s frustrating to hear their stories.
I just want to offer a quality piece that doesn’t break the budget while still keeping in mind my time and effort. I’ve been wanting to do it for a while, but Etsy has given me a place to sell it, and my last corset class gave me a little of a budget to start it. While at Haberman’s, I can offer to sell people the supplies to make the items. Many customers at the store lack the skills or are simply too intimidated to even try their hand at the project. I really just want to make pretty things.
Oh, and on a side note, I’m really impressed with the functions on the camera in my smart phone…I need to get my Dad one of these phones and take away his diskette camera.
