Link - Halloween Costumes

Ok, so MY Halloween costume idea has changed, but not CJ’s…I totally didn’t expect that. So Sci Fi was proving too difficult/annoying to wrangle. Tangled and Zelda however…

So I’m working on making a Mother Gothel outfit from Tangled. I’ve got the wig and the fabric, and I’m going to use a 12 year old Simplicity pattern for the gown in a Red-Wine colored Poly satin. Kristie is still planning on Rapunzel, so hopefully I can get Mother Gothel done in time to wear.
DH Chris wants to be Vladamir, the Pub Thug who tinks the unicorns.

CJ…he still wants to be Link from Legend of Zelda. And he wants me to be one of the Links from Four Swords. I chose Violet Link (who pretended to turn evil in the Manga). I had originally made his Link costume out of cotton, thinking he’d only wear it for the summer and want to be something else by Halloween…now that the time is getting close I realized I needed to make it out of something warm that can be worn over a sweatshirt, or coat (it sometimes snows on Halloween here in Michigan). His hat is fine, I crocheted it out of nice warm yarn. So I picked up purple and green fleece and made my tabbard this morning before going to work, and then realized that I didn’t have a hat. I picked up more fleece and made my hat, and CJ’s fleece tabbard after work. It’s a simple rectangle with shoulders, a slit at the neck with 4 grommets, and sewed up the sides. We’ll wear them with long sleeved t-shirts or sweatshirts and belts. Super simple. We’ve also both got plastic swords.  I need to figure out his shield. The wooden one is too heavy, the plastic one is just wrong.
