Sewing Happy

So since CJ’s been born, I really haven’t been able to successfully sew very much at all. I think it may be a contributing factor to some of my depression. In any case, today (and yesterday) were REALLY good days for sewing. I did the edge stitching on Chris’ waistcoat (all except the pocket edges which will be easier by hand, see the coat pattern, left, I’m using as a base for the waistcoat). So all that’s left are buttons & holes, and attaching the pocket flaps. This is cool, but if we’re going to try to go to the Steampunk Salon on Sunday,  Chris needs something nice to wear.
So today I cut out the pattern (Butterick 3993, right, the blue one with some edits), cut out the fabric, and put most of it together. I need to figure out what buttons I’m going to use, so I can do the little shoulder button flap thingies and put them in the sleeve seam. So that’s where I’m at on this one. Just buttons, sleeves and hems left. I should be able to get it done by Thursday night. Which is good because we’re leaving on Friday. It feels good to be in the sewing groove.  It’s just strange because the sewing is all being done for Chris, so it’s probably the longest I’ve sewn at home with all my clothes on since I didn’t have to constantly try things on.

^_^

Man it feels good to see things coming together and getting finished. Finally.
