Retro Spec now open to submissions

Oct 13, 2009 00:36

Retro Spec: Tales of Fantasy and Nostalgia, a planned trade paperback anthology of speculative flash fiction, short stories, and poetry about culture, society, and politics from the 1920s to the 1980s, is now officially open to submissions. (And a quick ping of my e-mail reveals that the first submission has just arrived at 12:03 AM PDT.) Please check out the guidelines page for information about pay rates, submission formats, acceptable themes, etc.

Retro Spec will be the third anthology edited by yours truly and published by Raven Electrick Ink. Its predecessors are Cinema Spec: Tales of Hollywood and Fantasy (2009) and Sporty Spec: Games of the Fantastic (2007). If you'd like to see Raven Electrick Ink continue to publish short fiction and poetry anthologies such as these, here's how you can help: buy a copy of Cinema Spec or Sporty Spec, suggest that a local independent bookstore stock a few copies of Cinema Spec (genre bookstores are usually the best targets), suggest Cinema Spec as a purchase for your local public or University library. (Most libraries have quick online purchase suggestion forms that you can access from their websites.) I didn't mention Sporty Spec for the latter two, because newer books are an easier sell.

Raven and I will appreciate your help!

Looking forward to seeing your submissions!
