Cinema Spec's layout is complete!

Mar 19, 2009 02:13

The good news came late on Monday (technically, early Tuesday morning). I finished the layout for Cinema Spec: Tales of Hollywood and Fantasy! And about a week and a half ahead of the schedule I'd set.

The bad news came all day and evening on Tuesday. Instead of a reward, I was treated to the same PDF hell I'd encountered during production of Sporty Spec: Games of the Fantastic. Apparently WordPerfect and Adobe Acrobat just don't get on very well. I got embedded font errors, syntax errors--you name it. It probably didn't help that I was using an older version of Acrobat. Anyway, I found a handy tip in an online forum about changing a print spool option (never did I imagine I'd ever in my life utter the words "print spool option"), and after hours of frustration and a late dinner, Hubby came to the rescue with a new edition of Acrobat, so I could send out the proofs to the authors. Let's hope there are no access problems on their end.

I'm really not looking forward to making the PDF file for the final print that I'll upload to Lightning Source, because the standards for that are even higher.

But let me catch my breath long enough to celebrate the fact that the layout is done!
