on the job

I have been back to work for about two months now, and things are starting to fall into place. I didn't think it would be very different from being an intern, but it really is. I am expected to know more things and to be more serious. I don't get to use homework or classes as excuses for not being able to take on new projects. I had to set all these goals and go to a bunch of different training things, and the company is investing more money in me and the other 1st year staffers by sending us to Nashville in 2 weeks to spend 5 more days training.

I am getting more comfortable working with certain managers/senior managers, and I have been able to confidently give my opinion regarding different tax issues with our clients. Plus, I have been able to answer most of the questions my bosses ask regarding different clients. It is hard keeping track of all of them and remembering who is who. Also, a client totally called me this week about her tax return! The point is I am starting to feel and sound like an accountant. I am learning stuff and actually being able to notice my own improvement.

I got all of my Oct. 15 tax stuff out the door yesterday, which felt great. No working this weekend! And also, I found out yesterday that I passed the auditing portion of the CPA exam. I needed a 75% and I got an 80%. There are four parts in total, so I have 3 left. When I become an actual CPA, I am having the biggest party ever!!!
