Spring seems to be springing...
The weather is warming up, and the huge piles of snow that disfigured the scene until recently are mostly a memory. Only in places where it was piled high to get it out of the way can you still see snow around here.
Unfortunately, though, we've had some nasty ice jams on the river here, bad enough to endanger our town's water-treatment plant and other things built close to the riverbanks where the ground is low. Out West, I am told, things are much, much worse.
I'm hoping for a dry spring and summer. If we have torrential rains again, as saturated as the ground is, we could be looking at a repeat of 1993 and 2008.
I also am looking at having to replace my car; the undercarriage is rusted badly enough that it's on its last legs, although I still can drive it. If it weren't for the goddamned IRS impoverishing me, I could take care of this myself; as it stands, I'll probably have to beg my brother for help, as I did with the roof.
