Hotter than Beelzebub's bakery out today

Today is the Glorious Fourth, which is normally one of my favorite holidays. However, with the heat index well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and humidity rising, nobody much is out of doors who doesn't have good reasons to be. Most people are hugging the shade or the A/C.

I saw part of the annual Fourth of July parade here, and, as usual, it was dull, dull, dull. The high school marching band is, at least IMO, well downhill from my day, and that was the only band they seemed to have. Most of the rest of the parade was endless adverts for local businesses, so I called it time to leave, early, and headed for home and my own comfy A/C.

Tonight, I shall wander down to Riverbend Park for the annual fireworks display; I haven't voluntarily missed one of those since I was a Wee Nipper. It'll be a chance to see people I normally don't get to see. And by the time I plan to leave, the heat should have gone down some.

(Edited) The fireworks display was lovely; they did a great job. I'm glad I don't live in an area that's prone to wildfires.

In other news, that damn "Security Shield" malware was back; I'd thought I'd successfully exorcised it. I seem to have re-exorcised it, and I have some ideas of where I may just have picked it up, but my patience with this sort of nonsense is wearing mighty thin indeed. Finding a way to keep it permanently off my system would be very nice.
