Normally, I love my car---my lovely 1996 Chevrolet Caprice Police Special---with a pure and oogly love. However, there are times when a few crumpled rose-petals turn up in the rosy bed of our relationship, and this is one of them.
I need to get under the hood---the oil level's low, and it's due for an oil change---but get under the hood I can not, not for love nor money. The hood is stuck in the "down" position, and I cannot raise it, even with a couple of guys pulling up on it while I hit the "release hood" lever in the passenger compartment.
I am not normally one for guddling around under the hood of a car---I don't have any good place to do it, particularly now with the driveway unavailable---but this, I can do if I can get the hood open! Without an open hood, though, do it I cannot.
While I'm on the subject, there are a few other things besides the hood-release mechanism (I had trouble with that on my previous Caprice, too) thaqt I'd change about this car if I had the chance. Like, for starters, given's that the defroster is intended for the convenience of the driver, would it be that much trouble to put the thing in front of the driver's position? Or have it extend clear across the front of the dash, instead of just a short way?
Aye, well...tomorrow I should be able to get help.
