I really didn't think Torchwood would be very good. The overly bloody and overly sexualized Hey Look We're Doing The CSI: Cardiff Porn Channel in-your-face-ness of Torchwood is offputting and hilarious at the same time. Owen and Gwen are so phenomenally unattractive that it gets really silly really fast when they're trying to be hot together. Ahhh

Torchwood was a patchy series, yes, and it didn't turn out to have as many outstanding eps as Doctor Who can. But it still threw out a couple of eps that completely floored me emotionally, and I'll sit through a few monsters of the week for that. I'll even put up with Gwen.

Mom, Dad, and I have been watching Buffy for a while. I finally got Dad hooked and Mom hates to be left out of things. We got to "The Body" a few weeks ago. It's awesome, but heartbreaking. Tears all around.
I've got a list for your CDs. I'll try to send you the list in the next day or two so you can tell me if you already have them or hate the songs or artist.
Any thought on sometime we could meet up? I leave either the 12th or the 19th. We're shooting for 12th, but things might not be ready in time. Please let me know soon, even if it's just half a day, I really want to see you before I go.

Torchwood is... a show of great potential. Like you say, it's gets a bit too involved in being all Dark! and Edgy! but once it's gotten over that and gotten into it's stride it really has the potential to be excellent. I loved the Cyberman ep, even though it was daft, I thought the emotions and power behind it were awsome.

I'm looking forward to the next season actually, because I'm really hoping they'll have learned the lessons of the last season and improved. By all rights they should have.
