this is me not doing work

But I did do work! I read for two whole classes and I finished a borrowed book and I finished the first section of Monism!

But now I'm posting memes, because I don't want to read my history textbook, no I don't. *whistle*

the Prankster

(47% dark, 26% spontaneous, 5% vulgar)

your humor style:
CLEAN | COMPLEX | LIGHT

Your humor has an intellectual, even conceptual slant to it. You're not pretentious, but you're not into what some would call 'low humor' either. You'll laugh at a good dirty joke, but you definitely prefer something clever to something moist.

You probably like well-thought-out pranks and/or spoofs and it's highly likely you've tried one of these things yourself. In a lot of ways, yours is the most entertaining type of humor because it's smart without being mean-spirited.

So it kinda sucks that Monism is going to be the last in the series (I just jinxed myself on that one, didn't I), considering that even though the endings of the last two had a sense of uneasiness to them, they were at least relatively stable. Like, at the end of Pluralism there's no question that the Kon/Ichi thing wasn't going to last, and at the end of Dualism Ishida and Ichigo still weren't communicating very well with each other. But they were fairly calm notes to end on in both cases. Monism? Not so much. That's what happens when you leave Hollow Ichigo for the last aspect to explore. I can't bring myself to write him as anything other than a perfect amalgam of the worst parts of Ichigo. I tried to cut the poison at least a little, but it didn't work; I can't humanize him. The reason he fascinates me so is because he isn't really an individual in the sense that he's had a full life and could have changed into a bad person anywhere along the way -- he was just born that way. It's all he is and all he's ever been.

One thing that also made a big impact on me was the fact that the Hollow really is Ichigo, because Ichigo died. Literally. And the fact that he's alive again now doesn't change the fact that his Hollow is the him that died and rotted and, to all intents and purposes, is still decaying.

It occurred to me earlier that this is the first series of stories I've ever been completely unable to post to The Pit, because the first two are NC-17 for smut and the third is probably going to be NC-17 for violence.

Most of the time I like my atmosphere music just to be score music that sounds right -- for Trigun stuff I generally listen to my "Environment: Desert" playlist (Children of Dune, Lawrence of Arabia scores, the music from Voltiac in the third Myst game), but in this case I'm drawing a lot more heavily and literally on lyrics than I usually do. I visualize it in a rather Pollock-y way, someone confused and hurt and terrified just throwing messy ugly colors on a wall without watching where they go. Keep in mind that this playlist, as much as this story, this is just as much about Ichigo as it is about Hollow Ichigo.

What's up with me and writing emotionally exhausting stories with an emphasis on sexual violence/nausea/death/alienation/dehumanization recently? *beats self over the head to try to get the rest of War Prayer to write itself* I think it's that the atmosphere of the music and the suggestiveness of the canon is too inspiring to pass up. Sigh. (The scene where Ichigo finally goes to the Vaizard to ask for training, especially the suggestion that he never went home one night and spent the rest of the next day walking around searching for the Vaizard HQ... man, how can I leave that alone? *shakes fist at Kubo Tite*)

Everything in Bleach comes down to a power issue. And in almost every case there's some degree of shame or fear attached to that power. (Aizen stands out as a villain to me because he's the only character whose power issue is honest, open and shameless. He's very... clean, considering.) It makes for some crazy-compelling characters to write about.

Bleh. Back to psychology, appropriate reading after working on this fic.
