Forgive me for poking my nose in; I'm on your Mom's friends' list, and I just read her entry about the storm and its impact on your family. I'm glad all of you are okay. I live in North Carolina, and we've had our share of storms here too. I'm always relieved when the storms finally pass, but it's hard to walk around my neighborhood and see the damage left behind. It's always strange to see the sky afterwards---so blue and clear, as if the storm pushed all the impurities away.
Your post about the storm and its effect on you was very moving. I hope you'll consider writing as a profession; you have a real gift.
Your mum directed us to come and read this - said it was a better account.
First of all, strange as it may be from a stranger *hugs* I'm glad you're OK. Never had anything like that in Yorkshire, can't imagine what it must be like to go through.
Second, your mum was right - you're a bloody good writer. Haven't had a chance to explore your journal, but would you mind if I do?
It would seem as if the tree wanted to protect you all. If it's been there for a long time it would know you like you would know it and so this makes beautifully sense. I have a tree in front of the window of that room I sit in an write and type and do artsy things and I would be sad if it were gone. We had to cut it back a bit last autumn and I the shadow was strange to me for days.
I like talking to it when my muses are kind of hesitant.
