So it's been a week since I posted.
Internship
First of all, my internship started! I'm working with a company that focuses on marketing and does websites as an extention of that. To begin with they have me making some changes to their company Extranet and Intranet which is written in Cold Fusion and they don't have anyone on staff that programs it. I like programing in Cold Fusion.
The hours are a little flexable (show up at around 9:00ish and leave at around 5:00ish) and the atmosphere is very relaxed. They have an office gecko. No one else there knows how to do what I know how to do and it is a good feeling. They ask me to do things but they aren't telling me how. I pretty much come in, sit down with my music on, and program in my favorite markup language until the end of the day. Some internships are hours of bordem punctuated by the occational photocopy - not mine!
Also, interstingly, the techie who was in on the interview to hire me is no longer with the company. Don't know why. So I might be able to step into one of his shoes and get some part time work from the company after the internship is over *fingers crossed*. I haven't talked to them about this yet or anthing, at this point it's pure suposition on my part but, eh, I can be optimisting sometimes.
City Council
Mum has decided to run for City Council. I think she's crazy, I tried to talk her out of it, no dice. So I'm making her website. Add it to my extensive to do list :S I'm not in her riding this year either so I can't vote for her. It might even make a difference, she won her last School Board election by 7 votes.
She's in England right now, running the campaign from there. Sheesh. Crazy I tell you.
Work
My work for my part time job got a little behind last week due to the group project so I'm going to have to put a push on this week to do a little extra. Too bad it's in VBScript it'd be a perfect job otherwise. They've even expressed interest in having me work on other projects with them after this one is over. Too bad they're in VBScript.
Group Project
My group is still planning on doing more with our group project website. The owner of the company I do my part time work for could probably give me some good advice on where to go from here too, but I'd want to make him sign an NDA first. Tim suggests photo copying the one they gave me to sign and switching the names ;) Group meeting, probably on Wednesday, to talk about it in more detail.
Marathon
You may have noticed a lack of marathon updates in my journal recently... I went of x-rays on my foot yesterday morning. I'll know by Tuesday if I need a cast.
Friends / Brewing
Had a good long talk with Merry Wednesday night. I haddn't heard from her since August-ish so it was good to catch up. She has aquired a new boy to fixate on. I am midly jealous in a detached sort of way - he'd be quite the catch if she can reel him in - but I think I'm going through a I-don't-need/want-boys phase. Being single is good.
I'm bottling with Tim tonight :) We've put off bottling the nut brown a week longer than normal but I don't think it will make a difference since it's gotten pretty cool in here lately and the beer matures slower in the cold. I should put a few bottles of the wheat beer in the fridge since it should be ready to drink by now but there's a reasonable chance that we're going to attempt to empty annother 3L jug of wine tonight in the name of cinnamead. I hope he remembers to bring the game cube.
We've been discussing making a green tea beer. It seems to get added to everything these days so why not? There's a tea we've both had that has roasted rice in it that we think would complement the flavor of a light beer quite nicely. Not quite sure what to use as the base yet but the guy at the brew store will probably have some suggestions once he gets over his initial revolsion.
Sean invited me to go see BNL but was somehow surprised that they sold out in 20 min before he could call. We've seen them in concert together before, they're AMAZING, he shouldn't have been surprised. Apparently MikeandAdeline and Co have tickets. Luckies.
Wow, that was even longer than I expected. I went back and added handy sub headings so you can skip to the stuff you're interested in ;)
