for no particular reason i haven't posted in a long ass time. I had surgery on my achilles tendon on october 10th cuz i grew back my bone spur. so now i'm in recovery, which will last until the end of december. i'm uncomfortable most of the time, the foot just throbs and aches and i've been sleeping in the world for three weeks now and getting really jimmy in there. gonna try out the bed tonight, see how that goes. erik has been taking the most amazing care of me. he fixes the world, puts my socks on, helps me get around, does all the dishes and cleaning and most of the shopping. when i can (ie when i think there will be a wheelchair available)i go with him, which is probably more of a chore than anything cuz he has to push me around and there's less room in the wheelchair basket than a regular cart. and i've been vegetating at home for weeks so i want to look at everything in the store. but he's been really great and mostly patient and even takes me out to dinner. my mom, lynn, jenn, sharon w, and jenn's mom judy, have all also come over to visit me and take me out in public. so it's been pretty cool having mom up every weekend, she's been cooking and helping out with the chores and it's just been fun.
we moved into a really sweet townhouse back in september, which has an upstairs AND a basement, two bedrooms, 1 1/2 bathrooms, a bigger kitchen, a linen closet, and a laundry room. mom bought us a washer and dryer which are being delivered on thursday. and chuck moved into the basement so he didn't have to pay for a room at naz. or commute from mom's. his girlfriend courtney is here pretty much whenever he is, so it's kind of like having a little family here. got a new kitten, who's now 6 months old, her name is cosmo. it's possible i wrote about her back in the day when i first brought her home, but just in case... she's freaking adorable! puffy little cosmosis. my finches had babies in august, and i finally named them, after i found out they were both male. so now i have jupiter, willow, orpheus, and mephisto. they're extremely cute, and although 4 finches go through a lot more food and water and make a bigger mess than 2, they're just awesome and peeping and cheeping.
in other (VERY EXCITING) news, i have taken the neccesary steps to help out with the saw whet banding at braddock bay's owl woods. i can't begin to tell you how amazingly excited i am to participate. i'd be happy just to help out and work my way up, but there's a good chance i'll get to be hands on and actually helping with collection and banding this coming spring. so i'm kind of doing a count down to march, which is when the migration season starts.
i've taken up needle felting, which is a super sweet fiber craft where you take loose roving wool and sculpt it using barbed needles. if i may toot my own horn, i'm quite awesome at it. jenn down at the u got me hooked on it and i just can't stop. i'm posting some of my needlefelters on ebay, and i was considering putting some up on etsy. the problem is that although it's a lesser known craft, etsy is fairly saturated. and ebay's not the best venue because if you don't know you're looking for needle felters it's unlikely you'll come across them.
last but not least, we're planning a trip to virginia beach for our anniversary. mom wants to come with us, which i think is pretty cool. found a nice place to stay, looks like it will be a lot of fun. more to come on that as i get details.
i think that's it for now, i have lots of time, so i'll probably post again soonish.
