DIY Romantic Sweetheart Nails

Have you ever found yourself in a bind the day before Valentine's Day? I have many times before, always spend most of my money on gifts for my loved ones, so that means no money for the salon but that's okay! I don't stress it as I can come up with simple yet cute and elegant ways to make my night special and magical and now so can you! So lets get started!

DIY Romantic Sweetheart Nails Tutorial

Tools of Trade:

1. Nail Polishes (Base Coat, White, Sparkly, Red, and Top Coat)
2. Marble Tip Nail Tool (or a toothpick)
3. Scrap piece of paper or cardboard

Step One

I am using a French Pink base coat on my nails, but you can use any base coat color you want. Just brush it on in 1-2 layers one at a time making sure that each layer fully dries in between. Depending on how intense the color you want, I used 2 layers of this to really give my nails a soft pink look.

Step 2

Next add the white polish to the tips giving a french manicured look. This will not only make your nails elegant but really stand out, you can use french nail tape as a guide, the natural whites of your nails, or simply if you feel you have a steady enough hand just wing it! Remember to let the polish FULLY DRY.

Step 3

With your sparkly nail polish, simply brush on from the top part of your nail (where the cuticle is) downward toward the white tip stopping against the white line. If you want you can paint the whole nail but I wanted to give my nails the illusion of a sparkly 'background'. Let it dry completely.

Step 4

Now here's the fun part! Take your red polish and dab some onto the cardboard like so above and then dip your drawing tool (toothpick or marble tip) into the polish and begin to draw little hearts on your nails! Do this by drawing half a 'V' on you nail in a downward stroke then finish your 'V' with an upward stroke...just like writing a 'V'. It is important to make sure your drawing tool has just the right amount of paint on it otherwise you'll end up with either a creepy looking bloody blob or a deep paint line in your hearts so try and test this on paper BEFORE you apply to your nails, can't count how many times I had to start over on multiple fingers before learning that horrible mistake.

Have fun with this! You can add more glitter, polka dots, whatever you want! I drew around 3 or 4 hearts on each nail and added a little more glitter, after the hearts dried, since it wasn't enough glitter for my tastes.

Step Six

Once all your nails are dry add your top coat and you was ready to romance your hunny!

Don't forget your valentine's card! Thank you for viewing this simply tutorial!
