Yesterday at the craft show the vendor next to me sold driftwood Christmas trees that he made from wood he found walking beaches (Bliss). He was a retired fireman and started doing this because he needed something to do in his retirement. We swapped beach walking stories. I suggested that he keep track of where he picked up his driftwood. He said that his daughter suggested that too. I said that it adds to the story and many people will identify with that and it would help them connect with the pieces that he made. He was friendly but did not dominate the conversation. He seemed eager to learn anything about craft shows that he could.
The funny thing is that people kept asking if I was his wife. Nope. But I thought that a good partner for me would be someone who likes to walk beaches and look for treasure. I also met his wife. She just got the job at the senior center within walking distance from my house. Someone I would like to get to know so that I have a place to teach ceramics in my future.
I asked my Dad if he could help me make a tree out of the driftwood I have collected. I haven't decorated my place in 10 years... I threw away the holiday for me 10 years ago because of a happening. This was something I thought I could bring in. Dad said no. He didn't want to. PPPPPTTTTHHHHHZZZZZZ.
