Just wanted to say hi, I just joined after watching long time :) Love this community and my favourite pairing is Koumyou + Ukoku :D , who could resist them? I also wanted to ask a question "how to make Sanzo costume". I'm going to cosplay Ukoku next month and I don't know how to make his outfit...Help anyone?

The scripture and the chestplate are the main things that you can trip up on and have decrease the look of your entire costume. If you really want your scripture to look nice then go for some nice cloth and sew it together. I sewed it like I was sewing a costume, double paneled and then the white part hemmed and sewed on top. The characters that you put on the scripture also make the difference. There is no set group of characters that appear on any one sanzo's scripture in Saiyuki so don't worry about accuracy. I'd personally reccomend looking up a chinese buddhist sutra and write that onto it, or you could just write random japanese/chinese characters. Make sure you look at a reference while doing it, though. The random scribles do not make a very appealing sanzo cosplay... ^^;
The chestplate is a bit more difficult. My sister and I made ours out of real bamboo. We sawed round pieces off of dried bamboo (you can buy poles at craft stores) and then hammered them so they fell into pieces. We then hot glued those onto a piece of cloth in rows like the chestplates. One long piece of bamboo went along the top and... voila! They are absolutely gorgeous and, in my opinion, look much nicer than the other chestplate variations that we've seen so far. If you don't want to go that far a sushi mat could work... I've seen that done passably.
For the arm warmer thingies... ^^ We've been using cut up pantyhose. I suppose that cut up black gloves would work just as well... might be a bit more expensive.
And for the robe... there are plenty of kimono patterns out there...
Da.... hm.... that is all I can think of! ^^
