Vacation Perfection

Apr 15, 2010 22:37

To say vacation was a necessary is a slight exaggeration. There was only one day In the entire month of March that I didn't work. Granted I didn't work 8 hour dys on weekends, but either way I had to work. I almost cried at work several times throughout the month from pure stress. So yeah, vacation was necessary.

Vacation was everything I needed it to be and more. I came back relaxed, tan, and with several hundred dollars less in my bank account. Highlights of vacation include:

  • Climbing Camelback mountain in Arizona - mountain hiking is overrated. But it was beautiful.
  • Azalea bushes everywhere in Arizona. They're my favorite flower I like to see at Easter.
  • Driving around for about 40 minutes trying to figure out where to go to Mass on Easter Sunday.
  • A fun Irish bar in Phoenix that served Strongbow. We were out with a British guy, and got to listen to a blues band. Needless to say, I was in heaven.
  • The drive to California. We kept occupied with discussions and music from my iPod. It was a longer drive than expected, but nothing too terrible.
  • Food! Oh man, the food was fantastic. Brie and fruit, frozen yogurt, gelato, avocados, freshly made guacamole and salsa, fresh fruit every day, Mexican, and more.
  • The weather. We were really fortunate to have great weather. Our first day in Arizona and California was a little cooler than expected, but not terrible. But the rest of the time it was perfect.
  • Sitting on the porch and reading. Daily. Strangely I only read 5 books, but I did read for a few hours each day.
  • The ocean. There are few things I love in life more than I love than water. More specifically - large bodies of water like lakes and oceans. We spent two days on the beach, but not for the entire day.
  • Hanging out with friends. We were all a bit concerned that we'd get sick of each other at the end of a week and a half, but we did really well. We made sure to do things that each person wanted to do, even if we weren't crazy about it. That's what friends do, you know? And I would go on vacation with them again.

I'm sure there was more, but I really just remember relaxing. I'll try to remember to post fun pics later in the week.
