So I graduated. Oh, with honors! This girl is Magna Sum Laude! I'm actually a few days behind posting about it, but I did it!
The big day was Saturday. I drove out to Indiana with my dad, one sister, and one brother. I cashed in hotel points and got two rooms for free. The drive out was straight-forward and boring. Lots and lots and lots and lots of corn and green beans. And more corn and green beans. There were also signs bragging about the superior seeds that were used to plant said corn and green beans. But mainly I saw corn and green beans. It was perfectly boring. But, in case you thought we didn't talk to each other - don't worry. We talked for about 30-45 minutes. On the drive to Indiana. And we were pretty quiet on the way home.
The big day arrived early. Too early. 6:45 early. I managed to scarf down breakfast and coffee before hitting the road, but I should have drank more coffee. We found the
campus without a problem and it was just as beautiful as their pictures. I ran into a former classmate. We were both in the Associates program together and she was on most of my project teams. It was great to see someone that had been there with me through everything.
Then the big moment arrived. We lined two sides of a hallway, talking and anxiously awaiting the moment the ceremony would begin. Suddenly, we heard applause. We didn't know what we were applauding, but we joined in. Then we saw them. Professors, teachers, and deans, walking down the hallway with big smiles, saying "Congratulations!" while clapping. I felt incredibly special.
The ceremony itself was a blur. There were a few speakers, tons of people that graduated, pictures that were taken before, during, and after the ceremony, and tons of people. I almost cried a few times - mainly cause I was so happy. And proud. And then it was over! I took pictures with the family, acquired some paraphernalia courtesy of my dad, and we left.
I'm so glad I went back to school and I'm really glad I stuck through it. I don't know what the future has in store for me, but I'm confident there's more education ahead of me. It might not come in the form of formal education, but I can certainly credit
Indiana Wesleyan University for giving me an even greater desire to learn.
