Designing my Own Loft

Sep 12, 2008 08:18

I've started watching Season 2 of Top Design. I watched the first and second episodes back to back, so I definitely have interior design on the brain. I got to thinking about what I'd ask for in a loft if I was the client. Red, obviously. Perhaps some blues or greens in the kitchen or bathroom. Classic, dark woods. A hardwood floor, perhaps through the entire loft. A bookshelf, a couch, and a comfy chair. The bookshelf would need to be able to store a large number of books. A coffee table and wine-rack. Sheer curtains. They seem to let more light into a room. After that, I don't know what other direction I could give them, other than to say that I don't want a glass table in the dining room. "Make it work." Ooops, wrong show. I'd probably go through magazines and rip out pictures of rooms I liked and could imagine myself living in. And then describe what I thought my "living palette" is. Warm and inviting. Bright and airy, but not necessarily chic. Classic, clean, and cozy.
