But if we're gonna make out...

What was seemingly an ordinary task turned out to be out of control. Amusing, but at points it seemed that it was not going to end. I was tasked with creating a video of myself. No, not that kind of video! A video for school. I had to give a speech on the flow of communication. Since this particular class is online, the prof can't watch my speech in person, so I had to send in a video.

I finally got ahold of Jason to make sure he could tape the speech this evening. He told me to go get a mini-DV so we could record the speech. I got a mini-DVD. His camera is always in a corner of the office. It was nowhere to be found. We searched the storage room, random drawers, other boxes, and still couldn't find it. Eventually he called one of the kids in our youth group and confirmed that he had the camera. So we moved onto plan B.

Plan B involved calling another girl who's specializing in videography...or something like that. At this point I still don't care that there's a good possibility I can't turn in my homework. (The entire day involved not caring...except lunch.) Jason showed me how to use the software on his computer for video editing, copying, etc. Then all of the sudden he came upon plan C.

Plan C was to record the video on my camera, transfer it using the card and go from there. To test, I recorded Jason talking, put the card in his printer, and let the computer do the rest. But, the computer didn't wanna do anything. Amusing and frustrating all at once. At this point I was laughing. Back to Plan B.

Jen finally called back and agreed to stop by the office. 20 minutes later, we've exhausted our topics. Jason's wife is getting a little anxious and is kinda harassing him to get home. I kept looking at my watch and realized that there was no way I was going to make it to my personal training session. Jason called Jen again and discovered that she can't find her firewire cable. Minor dilemma. She has no way to transfer the video from the Mini-DV to the PC to create a DVD. So I went to Target.

If you've been paying attention to this story, you've probably figured out that Target did not have the cable. They were sold out. Of course they were! I went to CompUSA and had a cute guy help me locate the firewire cable. At one point he held up a box that clearly has a cable in it and the box says firewire on it and asks if it's correct. The blonde in me says "I have no idea what a firewire is. (True) You could hold up any box and as long as it said firewire I'd think it was okay." That got a smile out of him. Eventually we located the correct firewire cable and I went to Jen's house.

The video shoot went well. Not quite as exciting as some video shoots could be, but it could be worse. Hopefully I get a good grade.

While we were creating a cool movie and burning it to DVD, we talked about Harry Potter. It's so nice to talk with another fan. I asked the typical questions (Dumbledore, Snape, Horucruxes, Lily, RAB, etc), talked about theories (who's going to die, where are the Horucruxes, Accidental Horucrux, Ginny), and talked about how we're super psyched about the book release. I may go to Hudson for the book release party, but I definitely have to have the book early Saturday morning. Between the hours of midnight and one preferably. Eeep....4 more days!

school, homework, books and reading
