Where was there to spend a free period? There was the dormitory, the common room, the library, or the Great Hall. All in all, it was always one of the same old things. Sara hadn't known the older rules of Hogwarts, but from the way everyone had started off the year complaining, she had a feeling she was missing out ( Read more... )

Blaise was busy analyzing his wardrobe and attempting to find his "tallest" clothes so that he could continue dressing Theo up in them, which left Theo on his own for the afternoon.

The weather outside was crisp and clear, and it was simply beautiful on the grounds with the fall leaves dabbled over the grass and walkways.

Making his way out, he located a comfortable looking tree and positioned himself against it, a good book falling open in his lap. It wasn't until he had already found his page that he finally noticed the small girl sitting only one tree away from him in much the same position.

She looked colder than he felt with her robes tightly pulled around her, and Theo smirked a little when a very light breeze swept through to ruffle their pages.

Sara had been watching the older boy for most of the while, partially watching him out of the corner of her eye when she figured he had spotted her.

Her hands were in her sleeves now.

"Cold?" he asked finally, eyeing her attempts at keeping warm with some level of amusement.

"Vaguely," Sara remarked, "But it's much better than the stuffiness of the dreadful castle."

Her eyes sparkled in the cold.

His lips curved a bit more. "Finally, someone who agrees with me," he commented wryly.

He hated being cooped up in the castle some days, especially when it was much much more pleasant and open outside in the fresh air of the grounds.

She raised her eyebrows, amused.

"Well, you must have known it when it was better, right? Or was it just as bad?"

Sara referred to the Dumbledore times. She had made inferences.

"Depends on who you were and who you are. For some of us, it was more stuffy before than it is now. For others, it's only now begun to feel that way."

Peering at the books she had with her, he guessed that she was likely a first year, but at least she seemed more intelligent than most of the others.

"So... Dumbledore isn't the martyr people make him out to be?" she raised her eyebrows. She never believed everything she read anyway. "I guess once you don't have something anymore, you believe like you can't live without it. Poooor students."

She was slight rambling, and she pulled her robes a little tighter unconsciously.

"Dumbledore was a fool who played favorites with his little group of star pupils, that's all. He may have been a powerful wizard, but he showed very little wit most of the time," he answered her candidly.

He noticed the tightening of her robes, however, and his brow creased. "Need an extra set while you read? I don't get cold easily, myself."

Sara smirked as he described Dumbledore. That was hilarious.

"Very blunt, yet very convincible," she noted, nodding at the older boy.

"That's okay," she shook her head, a light smile still on her face. She didn't want to be weak.

"Suit yourself, but tell me if you change your mind," he told her, giving another friendly smirk as he shifted in place to sit more comfortably against the tree.

"What have the others told you about him?"

"My brother found him fair... probably never actually spoke to him," she shook her head, laughing a little. "Other than that, the books say he was amazing, the students say that they could get around his rules."

Sara watched him for a reaction.

"Yes, well, that much is true. The bit about the rules," he commented, rolling his eyes briefly.

"As for being amazing, I have my doubts. I wouldn't exactly call waiting for some wizard boy to luck into saving the world year after year an amazing feat, but I guess others will have their own opinions."

Sara nodded in response, taking in everything that he said. "Well, then it's obvious enough that Harry Potter was a favorite," she smirked.
