While it is true that emotion is the by-product of the chemical reactions in the massive biological computer that is the brain, I still believe in love. I can't think of a reason to shun something simply because it is understood. To shun something like the pleasure of emotion and hold onto only the pain which is love's equal in "realness" is a display of ignorance or futility.
