Its been a while since I updated this thing. So here goes... I recently got back from spending a week in Boston. I was at the World Science Fiction Convention, which is held in a different local every year. This year it happened to be was Boston. Last year it was Toronto and the year before that San Jose. It gives me a chance to travel a bit and it usually has a kick-ass art show. Unlike most gallery/art shows I've seen, this thing typically gets a few thousand people (including art show director, publishers, and collectors) through it... really good exposure, and this year I managed to sell about half of the paintings I brought with me. Bonus! The only problem was, scruffy punk that I am, I felt really out of place at the convention. Nice people, but I felt so out of my element and uncomfortable, it took some of the fun out of it... it also probably doesn't help that I 've been clawing my way out of a bout of a depression. Anyway, I've noticed this in past years too, but I think it was more tangible to me this year. So I ended up ducking out of the convention fairly often to have a few brews at the Bukowski Tavern - great place btw - down to Jillian’s to play a little pool, or just spent my time people watching and chillin' on random curbs, drinking coffee and smoking a few butts.
