I very much agree with you about humanity. There's no excuse for leaving beings that can't take care of themselves to starve to death. That's just wrong.
I agree. I can think of NO possible excuse for doing that. Your loan defaulted? Your car got repoed? I don't care. FIND YOUR DOG ANOTHER HOME, for God's sake.
The meat industry is HORRIBLE. Somebody was telling me that if everybody ate at least one meat-free meal each day, we could cut down on a lot of pollution and animal abuse. Don't quote me on that, but it makes sense.
Yes, I know. Meat.org has a video that really exposes just how horrible things are for cows, chickens, pigs, etc. Are you vegetarian or thinking of becoming one?
I used to be a vegetarian, but there were several problems with it for me. First and foremost was what it did to my appetite and energy levels. I wasn't getting enough protein and felt horrible. Also, my mom doesn't cook vegetarian, so I'd have to sit out on family meals... : (
I think it's absolutely horrible that people would do this. I even found out recently that a family I met a few years ago had actually done this, too. The dogs and cats were found just in time and have new homes now, but I no longer have any respect for that family.
I lost my faith in humanity a long, LONG time ago. You should read my last two blog posts. I rant about this kind of thing all the time. Alas, I do not have a really good comfort method to advise; I just try not to think about these things--if I get really furious about something, I write about, so I think we're already on the same page. You could also try volunteering at your local animal shelter--I did that when I was in college. It was sad, but also gratifying.
