Who morted?
So. Yesterday my uncle Kevin came over to our house for a visit. At one point we were talking about a certain kind of outdoor recreation (I'm not going to get to specific here, for reasons that'll become obvious). He said, "Yeah. It's not 100% safe. A couple of weeks ago, somebody morted there."
My sister asked what he meant. "They died," he told her. I felt bad--and yet I couldn't help laughing out loud. Morted?! I've never heard anybody say that before. Of course I know where it comes from, but I still think it's a really creative use of language. Thanks to Uncle Kevin for teaching me a new way to say something. Even though it's not particularly tasteful... : )
