oh yeah, the spring wine update!

I know, there still hasn't been a "camp summary". At this rate, I am starting to wonder if there will be one before next year. However, one thing that must be captured is the result of my first foray into spring wine. The ingredients I used went something like this:

Do you think this would work without the rose geranium? And possibly with ye random mint that grows in mass quantities in my yard rather than identifiable mints? Hmmm. And while I'm at it, maybe with lemon balm, which also grows in mass quantities in my yard... at which point it's a totally different recipe and I should just try it and find out...

Yes, it would work without the rose geranium, I just used it because I have it in abundance. And if you look at the original recipe (linked to in the post above), you'll see that the ingredients I ended up with are only loosely related to the ingredients that were originally specified. Part of the power of this recipe is that it's more like a general method, and (according to Lil, who passed it on to me) it's meant to be made with what you have at hand.

If you're thinking of actually doing this, I highly recommend going back to the original post for the full recipe and directions. Today's post is really just notes/following up on how that recipe worked for me and my deviations from it.

Oh, yes, I suppose looking at the original recipe does indicate that my random mint and lemon balm *do* belong in port. I expect my version will end up more lemony (my thyme is also a lemon thyme) but hey, it sounds fun!

Oops, posted too soon. I should also note that the canning-jar method is much easier to deal with than the stuff-the-wine-bottle method described in the original recipe, in case that was not already obvious to you.

How about a synopsis of an abstract of a summary of Camp then. Something brief but satisfying? I am frustrated because I haven't heard from anybody except for your bodypainting reference and an oblique entry about a *cowby* misa. Billable hours can wait, Dammit. He said sweetly, wanting to have something to take his mind off the fact that he drove twice by the spot where GWB and his never really elected- twice! presidential entourage were going to be today, right here in the state where he lives which is dominated by head up their ass crooked Republican fools and he needs a breath of somewhere else before he packs up everything in a truck and lands with the whole family on your doorstep... So, seriously...

You, sir, need a hug.
And possibly a stiff drink.

Yeah, I'm thinking whiskey, hug, and then help with packing. I can't change Ohio, but I can help you get out of it.
