February Workshop - Dux Brannos -- Saturday February 21, 2009, 10 am to 3 pm at Kennydale Elementary School, Renton, Washington

The February workshop will be taught by His Grace, Dux Brannos, twice king of the Middle. Dux Brannos is touted to be one of the best teachers in the Known World. He has almost single-handedly made Detroit, Michigan, the place in the Middle where most of that Kingdom's Kings come from. His Grace's class will cover Movement, balance, range, transition, control, striking, blocking.... Mostly sword and shield but also a bit of spear if people are interested. HG Brannos is definitely someone who has a lot to teach in a style that will likely be different than what you usually find in An Tir. We are flying Duke Brannos out from Michigan, and Wyewood is holding a feast later on Saturday in honor on His Grace and TRMs An Tir, Vik and Inga, who are traveling down from Borealis, Avacal to attend.

The remainder of the class schedule:
March Workshop - Jarl Skeggi and Sir Antonio - Saturday, March 28, 2009, 10 am to 3 pm

Jarl Skeggi and Sir Antonio have graciously agreed to team teach an art of defense class. (The date, location and time for this class are confirmed, but the availability of the teachers is tentative due to work schedules - if one can’t make it, the other will teach solo, if they both can’t make it, we’ll get a substitute teacher). Jarl Skeggi has been both King of An Tir and Champion of An Tir, and he is an enormously fun fight. He fights primarily center mounted shield, in the past a round, currently he has been fighting with a center mounted scutum. While Sir Antonio is one of the best defensive side mounted heater shield fighters in the kingdom. Both Skeggi and Antonio have fortress-like defenses, but both have very different defensive styles. Come learn defensive techniques from two of the best defensive fighters in An Tir.

April Workshop - Duke Sean and Duke Sven, Saturday, April 18, 2009, 10 am to 3 pm

Duke Sean from Artemisia and Duke Sven of An Tir will be teaching in April. HG Sean teaches all over the known world regularly and has been King of Artemisia three times. He has a high level of understanding of SCA fighting and is an amazing teacher. Duke Sven has been King of An Tir five times as well as Champion of An Tir numerous times. HG Sven is one of the fastest and most adaptable fighters in the Known World. This workshop will be set up as a lecture for the first two hours by HG Sean and then the last three hours will be fighting. During the last three hours of fighting, HG Sven will be available for private and semi-private tutorials (i.e. one on one, one on two or one on three sessions) lasting approximately a half hour each. As HG Sean is coming out from Utah, we will likely have a BBQ after the class on Saturday where you can have an opportunity to socialize with His Grace and we will likely also have a fight practice Sunday in a local park. Details will be provided.
