And the Workshops begin this weekend . . .
We are having HE Sir Sagan from Artemisia out to kick off the Winter Workshop series. Sagan is a known world renowned trainer and is touted as "the Kingmaker" in the West Kingdom. He will be teaching:
“Fighting - An Overall PerspectiveSCA Combat - Sport or Martial Art? This session will deal with the many ways in which SCA combat can be viewed, as well as trained, practiced and performed.Common aspects, that occur each and every time we contest, will be discussed. In addition, ways in which to detect faults and how to apply correction will be presented.Some drills will be presented, and open combat sessions will be done to give everyone an opportunity to use their new found skills.”
Where: Kennydale Elementary School, 1700 NE 28th St, Renton, WA 98056 -- Take I-5 to I-405, take exit 6 off I-405, the school is on the eastside of the freeway right off the I-405 in Renton and is impossible to miss. Come in the front entrance and we will be fighting in the Gym and perhaps outside as well if the weather is nice.
When: Saturday, October 24th from 10 am to 3 pm
Cost: $15.00
Bring your armor and notetaking materials. Water, sports drinks and snacks will be provided.

The Rest of the Winter Workshop Schedule Pretty Concrete Although Not Set in Stone -
November 21: Duke Thorin, Kingdom of An Tir, Duke Thorin will teach a class on utilizing offense as defense.
December 12: Duke Haouc, West Kingdom, will present the theory and practical application of controlling the fight. In our Art, we need learn to first control ourselves, then to control our opponant and their response and action. This is achieved through control of the measure, the offense, the defense and the invitation. Sir Mari Alexander, OL will be accompanyong Duke Haouc and has graciously offered to instruct in theory and practical application of creating gambosens for mutant fighters to wear and function in -- details of when class to be held to be announced -- most likely Saturday evening at Rauokinn's home. Mari was Duke Haouc’s squire, but will be elevated to the Order of Chivalry on October 31, 2009 in the Kingdom of the West.
January 16: Duke Paul, West Kingdom will present a class on movement and power generation and how the Bellatrix fighting style can be best incorporated into a typical An Tirian style.
February 20: Instructor TBD
