Fandom: Supernatural
Characters: Gabriel, Sam
Spoilers: Up to & including 7.16 and some minor for 7.17
Rating: PG
Prompt:  Supernatural, Sam, Even after all he and Dean have been through, even after finding out that God is supposedly MIA, Sam still prays.

Roofs are good places for sitting, Gabriel thinks. They're open and give a good view, but no one ever thinks to look up.

The psychiatric hospital roof is a prime spot. Flat and wide, with a high ledge around the edges, and the door up is always kept carefully locked. It wouldn't do to let the crazies near the edge.

It's not perfect, though. Angelic supersenses have their downsides, and one of them is that he hears every scream from every patient, feels the dullness of every dose of thorazine, has to listen to every Dad-damn group session and one-on-one in the entire building.

He tunes out the background noise and focuses in on one room in particular.

Sam is muttering quietly, and for a moment Gabriel thinks he's speaking to a hallucination, again, but no, even an erstwhile angel would recognize the warm, powerful thrumming underlaying the words.

Prayer. For Christ's sake (and Gabriel's met the man more than once) he's praying. After all he's been through, after all he knows, the boy still has faith. It shakes Gabriel to the core.

The prayer is meant for God, of course, but He gets millions of prayers every day. Gabriel stores it carefully. Among his brothers or not, Gabriel is still God's messenger, and this message is one He has to get.

Fandom: Leviathan
Characters: Alek, Deryn
Spoilers: Behemoth, except not really because he had to figure it out sometime, the dummkopf
Rating: PG13-ish
Prompt:  Any, any, she might dress like a man, but she's all woman

He's never seen Deryn out of uniform before, and he isn't sure what he was expecting, but -- well.

Her hair is still short, and she's still wearing split trousers (he has heard her vehemently insist to the lady boffin that she will never again be stuffed into a barking skirt) but these are tighter-fitting, hugging the curves she has instead of hanging slack to hide them. Her chest is unbound and there's an embroidered insignia over her left breast, same as Alek's, that he can't stop staring at.

"Barking spiders, Alek, close your mouth before it sticks that way," she mutters, ears flushing bright red.

He blinks. "Sorry."

"Keep your eyes on the dance floor, dummkopf." She pinches his arm through his dress shirt, hard. "We've got a loris to find."

Yep, Alek thinks. She may not look like a boy anymore, but she's still the same old Deryn.

Fandom: Animorphs
Characters: Jake, Cassie
Rating: PG
Prompt: 100 words: Animorphs, Jake/Cassie, I'll teach you how to scuba dive

She fits the mask over his eyes and mouth, slips the tank straps over his shoulders. It's surprisingly heavy, for air.

The wetsuit is slick and ill-fitting, stretched thin across his broad shoulders and constricting around his ribs. He wonders if a diver's ever suffocated before hitting the water.

She presses the mouthpiece into his hand and meets his eyes, brown to brown. Hers are warm, he thinks, and tries to remember that as the cold water closes over his head. He is alone.

(Hold your breath and close your eyes, because your tubes will break at any time.)
