Heaven was glorious.
Shining and pure, power crackling in the air like thunderbolts. He looked down at the mortal plane and frowned at their impurity, scoffed at their ignorance, looked disapprovingly upon their transgressions.
And then for the first time in two thousand years, he walked upon the earth and felt it writhe beneath his stolen feet, twisting and leaping and buzzing with energy, life. And the humans were-- well, they were so human.
But then came the Devil, and the war that never stopped. His brothers fled like cowards, bats flocking to hide in their dank caves before the Morning Star. And the silence in his head, it was deafening. He wondered if this was what it was like to be human.
It was no wonder they were all so unhappy.

Prompt: 56 words: Author’s choice, author’s choice, Every year on the anniversary of my father’s death, I visit his grave… to make sure it took.
Hunters don't need graves. Anyone who's ever met a spirit knows that six feet under isn't nearly deep enough. There's a death, and a pyre, and the ubiquitous cigarette lighter, and sometimes a shot of whiskey to stoke the flames. Still, though, every July they take a road trip to check the ashes. You never know.

Spoilers: Series' end
Rating: PG
Prompt:
drabble365days #102: I still believe (33/100)
"Submit," it says. "Surrender yourself to me. You will feel no pain."
I am frozen in place, a single stalk eye quivering as I strain to turn it. Behind me my crew is also immobilized, but I know they are watching. Waiting to follow their captain's lead.
I remember my human friends and their strange phrases. I say, < Go to hell. >
-
The great ship jerks beneath us as it fires, again and again. We speed away, and I know that no one aboard the Intrepid could have survived. Still, with all my strength, I cry out for my prince.
-
It takes me anyway. It takes all of us, all at once. I recall only seeing through my own eyes one moment, and its eyes the next. I feel my crew next to me, their consciousnesses pressed against mine. One disappears, then another.
"They are weak," it says. "They've become part of The One. As you will soon."
My crew disappears, giving up in clusters of twos and threes, as if the universe were holding its breath, and then releasing them to The One in a single sigh.
Months pass in silence, its hold tightening around us closer and closer as our numbers dwindle. Only I and one of my princes are left now.
< I'm sorry, Captain, > he says. < I've failed you. >
< You have not, > I tell him, but he's already gone.
-
"Only you left now," it says. "The great Captain Aximili. Aximili of Earth. The living legend, the child warrior. So many names, but you're no leader, just a soldier. Let go, now. I see you still hold on for your Earthlings. No one is coming for you. Let go."
I say nothing. My human friends will save me. They always have before.
