All sorts of news

This week got off to quite an eventful start.

The Department of Central Management called asking for a copy of my diploma to certify my graduation. Problem: I haven't received it. I called TU to ask for a letter to fax, certifying such, only to find that according to their records, I never actually graduated. Hmmm. I was referred to the advising office where I found out that one of my grades STILL hadn't been turned in. A few phone calls later, I finally got an email saying, "congratulations on your graduation". Thanks guys, only a few months late. Sheesh. TU advising is not something I'll miss.

Bad news:
I had a nuclear bone scan and MRI done on my right ankle because it was still busted from Austin and my go-kart incident last summer. Apparently the ligament connecting my foot and ankle has been torn all this time. I'm going to need surgery. I don't have time to do it before I start work. So I'll have to do it in Chicago by myself while using holiday time I don't yet have. Great. I don't want to have surgery. At all.

Good news:
I got a new apartment!!! I feel like quite the grownup, since I organized it myself, signed my own lease, and will be completely financially independent, starting a week from Friday. It's a 3 bedroom, 2 bath apartment in Wrigleyville, 3 blocks south of Wrigley Field and 4 1/2 miles north of my job downtown. I'll be rooming with 24 and 25 year old consultants Amanda and Melanie, who so far seem both normal and nice. And there's a beautiful church nearby for me to attend with a great young adults group and the only German mass in the diocese. And this apartment includes a parking space, so I get to bring a car. All in all, a happy!
