Challenge #6

In your own space, make a list - anything between one and ten things is a sweet spot, but don't feel constrained by that! - of things that you wish existed in fandom or elsewhere, or that you'd like someone to make for you. Are you dying for podfic of your writing? Do you need icons for a character that doesn't get much fanart? Is there a story you want to read? Are you looking for new canons to get into? Would you like a collaborator for a project?

Maybe you want more people to talk about a certain fandom with, or you'd love to trade ficlets with somebody over email. Maybe you're new to a fandom and would like some recs to start reading, or communities to join. This is the time to ask!

Golly!

I would love podfics done of my stuff. I know there's one of All the Comforts of Home out there somewhere (I have lost the link, of course, because I am a ninny), but I think Hedge would be a great podfic.

I would also like to do podfics, so maybe that's how I get Hedge it's own podcast, I don't know. But I have, I'm told, a pleasing voice (or that's what I tell myself, at least).

I would also love to tell some fics. This is slightly different from reading them, but as a teller, there is just a great connection to the words and the audience. It's hard to describe.

Let me see, something less me-centered...

I was talking with a friend this morning about Chocolate Box, and 300 words of fic sounds brutal. How do you cram what you need to in that tiny space? And as someone who can't get a box of chocolates as a gift because I would eat the whole damn box in one sitting, how am I to be satisfied with 300 words. More, damn it, now!

But after we got off the phone it occurred to me that this might be a great exercise. So if someone wants to trade chocolates, or I don't know, emergency cookies (I believe these are also known as icebox or no-bake cookies)? Wafer thin mint?

Tiramisu! Not the Food Fantasy (unless you're into that) but something I'm inventing until someone says it's already been done and known as Ducks&Bunnies, or Steve, or yourwordhere.

If someone wants to send me three characters from a source I have familiarity with, a location, and two random elements, I'll mix them and send you 200-500 words within a week of me telling you I got the message. If you want to either remix or continue the scene, that would be a kick.

So I guess what I want is a small bit of challenge without a huge time? And might be kinda fun?

Um, fandoms I know (with various levels of knowledge) would be: Star Trek (original, TNG, movies) due South, LoTR, Stargate (SG1 and Atlantis), Doctor Who and Torchwood, Good Omens (book or show), American Gods (ditto), Magnificent 7 (movies or TV), Neverwhere (I believe this completes the Neil Gaiman portion), Supernatural, Brooklyn 99, The Good Place, Georgette Heyer (not so much the mysteries)... probably several others but I want to post this and get on with my writing.

And that's all I'm going to say right now. Except I am now wondering if Doug Judy could have a good conversation with Lord Jack Carstares.
