LOST!

It's really fitting that I make my first journal update in forever about Lost. I can't believe it's the final season. Remember a simpler time when the most confusing part of the show was the presence of a polar bear? I was so jazzed I woke up at 7:30am GMT (because I'm in London, btw!) to watch the premiere.

Now for the spoilers.
Lost 6.01-2
So the plan didn't work. Or did it? Are we running with parallel timelines or something? Are all the characters somehow going to end up back on the same plane and crash? Doesn't seem too beyond Jacob to make that happen.

I know it's the final season, but anyone else not see an endgame yet? Normally when series come to a close, there's some big picture the show is moving towards. Right now it just seems like we're trying to understand how the bomb thing worked and who the frak the other man who isn't Locke is.

Speaking of Not-Locke, he's the MONSTER! What. The. Frak. So we know what the Monster we don't know who it is. Never thought I'd ever say that. The monster is a... person? Deity? I presume we'll figure out more about Jacob and other dude, those crazy kids.

Anybody else see two sets of Others? We have the Dharma others - Ben, Juliet, Richard, etc, and now we have the Temple Others. Losties seem to think they're one group, so like an off shoot? We do know that the Ben Others and the other Others have some connection, we saw them like in season 3 "watching" Jack or something. But since then they've been kind of MIA. Appears like we'll be seeing more of them.

Lets talk about timelines, because they are so frakked up right now. The island looks like it's all in the same era, so look for a Sun/Jin reunion (don't we love those?). Why was the island underwater as Oceanic 815 passed overhead? Did nuking the island sink it? I mean, not really since we know things are still happening on the island. Maybe nuking it set up a parallel universe in which the island is destroyed and the Losties go about as if nothing ever happened. I say parallel universe because not everything went according to how it was before the crash. For starters, Desmond was on the plane (or WAS he? He was gone after Jack got up) and Boone (BOOONE!!!!) didn't get to drag Shannon back to LA. The Shannon/Boone thing really bugs me, mostly because nothing about nuking the island would change the events that went down in LA.

How psyched were you guys to see Claire! I have no idea why we've had to wait an entire season for the Claire Dead/Not Dead payoff, but I'm glad we'll be getting it. Even though we didn't get hint of that this week, seeing her in the cab with Kate was like a taste of what's to come. Letting the viewer know we'll be getting some frakking answers.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Jack's dad didn't land in LA. He's become really important on the island (maybe the monster, maybe Jacob, maybe other guy, though that is the monster) and I don't think even an alternate timeline would change that. I bet the coffin poofed from the plane as they passed over the island.

I'll rewatch the episode later and probably post some more Desmond thoughts (he should SO have recognized Jack) later. Now I gotta get ready for the day.
