Tweet, tweet! That's what I do... a lot. Effing twitter and effing everyone in the world (except my friends) who use it. Remember when no one ever spoke about it? Remember when Congressmen didn't try to be "hip" and tweet during Presidential addresses? Those were simpler times. I'm torn between completely resenting the service for its strange popularity and enjoying it to think I'm close to "celebrities". Erm...
follow me? Lost 5.08
The more I think about this episode the less I enjoy it. At the time I was pretty pumped. It's the 1970's! Sawyer isn't Sawyer! WHAT IS THIS MADNESS? But now it all just seemed so... obvious. Firstly we sort of knew what was going to happen. Jin is in the Dharma initiative, so we already assumed the rest of the team was there, too. We also knew that Jack, Hurley, and Kate would show up. So this was a bit of a time-skipping episode, from "3 years ago" to "present" (aka 1970-ish). Was anybody surprised that Juliet and Sawyer hooked up? They've only been making googly eyes at each other for 7 weeks! And when Sawyer told Horace 3 years was enough time to get over someone, did you not want to smack Sawyer and tell him "dude, you're not over Kate". OH AND SHE'S GOING TO COME BACK IN 3, 2, 1..." That whole thing lost me. I'm so used to subtlety in shows *cough*Mad Men*cough* that I forgot how "shove it down your throat" some programs can be. And to say Lost is force feeding us information, and to complain about it, is really something.
So anybody catch the other obvious parallel? Sawyer and his crew is like Jack and his! Sawyer hooked up with Juliet and made a life, Jack hooked up with Kate and had their little life. It's like Jack and Sawyer are somehow alike (but different!) Mindblowing, really. Did I mention I like subtly and parallels that I have to work to catch? Can you tell I'm feeling some Mad Men withdrawals? Can it be on now, please? I NEED MY DON DRAPER! (ps if you need him too check out the
Funny or Die vid he did)
What else happened? Lots of guest stars from other shows popped up. There was Jason Street's wheelchair-bound friend from Friday Night Lights, then there was Jimmy Barrett from Mad Men, and finally there was Tony Almeida's deceased wife from 24. Kind of made my day. Also, we saw the four-toed statue's ass. Kind of sucks we'll never deal with it again. I may be too harsh on the Lost guys, they may include it in some viral promos or stuff.
Fingers crossed we get back to plots and stuff. Jack and others made it back to the island, and things just sort of ground to a halt. We had a Locke flashback (Ben you homicidal bastard!) and then we had the Sawyer flash, and a repeat. I'm itching for some resolution. Not so itchy for the relationship drama bound to come from this love hexagon (or square?) Again, that just seemed so melodramatic for Lost. Aren't they above stuff like that? Apparently not.
So... Two more episodes of Battlestar Galactica left... ever. I'm pretty sure I am unprepared to handle this. I mean... BSG! My friend Elyssa and I used to run into school on Mondays and shout "IS IT FRIDAY YET?" because we were pumped for the show! And now it's ending and all will be wrapped up! We know all the Cylons! We know what's up with Earth! I'm going to need tissue boxes on hand for next week. And I know I'm attempting to be more social, but Friday the 20th is booked. Just me, tissue
I'm on spring break for another few days. :( One week is definitely not enough, and I have some work to do for classes and I'm busy sitting on my ass. Fun! But ass sitting and stalking twitter did lead to me
Postcrossing, which appears to be a very sweet and charming website where you can register to send post cards to other people! I'm game :D
