Another one bites the dust.
Dexter Season 3 so far...
There have been a lot of fan rumblings, not spoiler based as far as I can tell, that seem to point to Rita being offed tonight. I didn't think it would happen, but then I had a dream.
It was a strange one, where I was Dexter. It was actually the second Dexter related dream in two weeks. The first involved running away and shooting the Skinner. This one was more interesting. Dexter lived with Rita in a big house, much like my own. The kids (plus another girl... a sign to come?) were there, and Dexter needed to find ways to leave them to do his business. Strange details were in this, such as having "kill clothing" and improvised clothing. One was a pair of blue converse shoes and sparkling stuff, pretty sure that was the improvised stuff... heh. So Dexter goes and kills some one, then has to get back in the house. The next day, Rita's friend, who was actually Rene from True Blood, is all suspicious. And Dexter needs to come up with all sorts of lies and excuses. One of which is the fact that garbage bags with dismembered body parts are in the trunk of his car (oddly, it was actually my car, but Dex's in my dream). Then later on he needs to make up to the girls for something going on with their American Girl dolls (don't ask) and the boy. So clearly his excuses and stuff is becoming noticeable. Another moment was when he had exposed human meat in the boat and everyone came on and he needed to explain it away as beef. Harry, meanwhile, is bitching about abandoning the code and stuff. Somehow, he later brings a giraffe home who poos everywhere, and has to clean that up. My dream kind of took a turn for the WTF.
You my psychoanalyze that as you wish. But the main thing I took away from that dream was, Dexter cannot be married. Think about it, he doesn't even live with Rita and he's getting married in tonight's finale! He'll have to sneak away random nights, keep his secret killing stuff somewhere... It'll never work. I don't think Dexter realizes that quite yet, I think he still believes he'll be able to have his own place and not let Rita into some parts of his life. Sooner or later it'll catch up. And I think someone's going to kill her tonight. I'm banking on Ramon, who'll just go ape shit on Dexter tonight. It'll solve so many complications for him, firstly the wife and child won't get in his way. Then the other two kids will surely get swept up by Rita's mother, who surely won't allow Dexter to have custody. His life suddenly gets a whole lot less complicated.
Another thing I'm thinking about is why Dexter lets people know who he really is. Let's just recall how well the whole Lila thing went last season. She killed Doakes and tried to kill Aster and Cody. Lovely. So, of course, Dexter takes that one step further and tries to friend Miguel and teach him all the killing tricks of the trade. Right. And surprise, that failed miserably. You think he'll learn his lesson by next season?
