Back Reviewing

I try really hard to write up my thoughts for TV shows right after they air, but sometimes I procrastinate and/or do homework. Sometimes I do both.

30 Rock 2.02
I continue to really like this show. My 30 Rock note was "must find werewolf bar mitzvah", so I think I'll be youtubing that shortly. That was my major LOL moment from this week. It was so good to see Will Arnett back, especially on this show, since I've been passively comparing this show to Arrested Development. I think Jenna is OK, her desperate act will get old, but for now it's pretty OK. Me want food, too. Me want food.

I think my favorite 30 Rock character is Kenneth, who is the most amazing thing ever!!! I love how gay/not!gay he is, with his high little southern accent. Every time Will Arnett tried to hit on him, I couldn't help but love it. Also? Him pretending to be straight using Scientology-like methods? Hysterical and clever. Will Arnett trying to "make [Jack's] heart explode" was brilliant.

I need to stop saying this show is like Arrested Development, but not really as genius. The more I watch comedy, the more I come to appreciate how incredible and special AD was. I don't think anything will be as on point and sharp and obsessed with continuity as AD. Back to this show and AD, I suppose both use dead pan deliveries and the random cutaways.

The Office 4.03
I'm having a problem this season. For one thing, Michael needs to shut up. I mean, his antics are getting absolutely ridiculous. I mean, would you really confuse a web address with a street address? Really? I think the writers need to tone him down. Steve needs to tone him down. The writers here are just missing the subtlety entirely.

Angela continues to kick ass and be awesome. I am loving the Dwangela break up storyline. I loved Dwight unshaven and looking at her very sadly. Awesome. Angela needed to dumb his ass, freezing a cat? Not even close to cool. Ever. (I made one of those accidental puns, laugh with me).

I don't really have much to say, other than I think the show is losing it's spark and quality. These hour long episodes were such a stupid idea. Why? Why? They're even managing to ruin Pam and Jim. I kinda don't find them as enjoyable as I used to. I did like them pretending to be the website, but other than that I don't really remember anything with them. There's always next week.

Grey's Anatomy 4.03
I don't know about other people, but I loved this week's episode. I had written down notes, and my final thought was "amazing." I think the ep again nailed the balance of intense and hysterical, not to mention the standard Grey's impossible wtf.

I thought the tongue-patient was the impossible wtf. I think the Chief said "Elbow, tongue, that's pretty close." Um... I'm no doctor, but I'm pretty sure those are different sets of muscles. Or maybe I'm wrong. Who knows, but I sure wouldn't describe those things as "pretty close."

I think this was Cristina's episode. She clearly won and pwned in every sense of those words. Her pretend emotion to get surgeries was the high point. I think I will go find my own pretend emotion and roll with that. Fake-sad Cristina was awesome. I do think we'll be seeing real-sad Cristina eventually. That kind of emotional storage never holds up.

OK, the major asshole of the week was Alex. I think a lot of people like him, and I was cool with him for most of the episode. But going and outing George as a repeat intern? I wanted to go beat that motherfucker so hard. My jaw dropped just from how unnecessary it was for him to do it. You know he was just jealous that George, Mr. 007, was getting attention. Asshat.

The cliffhanger ending actually left me wanting more. I loved how Callie knew, and George just let it out. "I had sex with Izzie." The way he said it was so intense. It was a mix of relief and sadness. I don't know what's going to happen with them, but I kinda want to hear more of that convo other than what George left us with.

30 rock, grey's anatomy, arrested development, the office (us)
