So my mouth hurts like a mofo. Thanks to my wisdom teeth, I got an infection and it basically means my wisdom teeth will have to come out. Fuck. I had teeth taken out before, and it hurt like a bitch. Well this hurts like a bitch now, so it can't get much worse. Plus I have school and I have no interest and motivation. Lame.

I really enjoyed these two episodes, even though, once again, we learned nothing new about Jack... well we learned that he convinced a friend to join a war, and the friend died. Oh and Jack's name isn't Jack. Does that bug anybody else? It kinda bothered me, I just feel like he's no long Captain Jack, he's just some guy. I wish his name was actually Jack, and now I want to know what his real name is. Was anybody else bugged by Jack and the other Jack hooking up on the dance floor? I mean, it is so unrealistic that an established military man would openly display his sexual preference in front of his men. If you ignored that, it was actually pretty sweet. OK so lets jump to "End of Days." This episode had me up until they brought out the giant Beast stomping about Cardiff, per Godzilla. Bad idea, it cheapened the drama that they had going. I did appreciate the connection to the Doctor Who episode "Impossible Planet," oh and the connection Buffy's "Conversations with Dead People." Torchwood needs some original storylines... stat. Even bringing Jack back to life was very... cliched. Kissing a man back to life? Pretty overdone, but I did see how it was sweet.

Now, ready for some massive confusion to come? Jack got picked up by the TARDIS! So this places "End of Days" around the upcoming Doctor Who episode "Utopia." The problem? "Utopia" is one of the last Who episodes of the third series. So the entire series up to that point takes place before the Torchwood finale... which we have already seen. At least Buffy and Angel matched up the cross-overs. It was a weird way to work in the exposition for Jack, but hopefully we'll get some answers. Just learning about things we know from watching Jack on Who got old.

Random note: Still hoping for some connection between Gwen and Gwyneth. I thought perhaps the Rift would bring Gwyneth through or something. On the Torchwood website, there is a reference to the events from the Doctor Who episode "The Unquiet Dead."

So Doctor Who Series One is airing on BBC America, and I am loving it. Something I realized about this show, is the plots are only 1/2 of the end product. The first episode, "Rose," I originally hated, and I still hate the villians, but when I rewatched it, I loved Nine and Rose, and I loved the lines and humor. I've found the same thing rewatching other eps I haven't been crazy about. God I love this show. That's why I'm so worried about the post-Rose era. I saw "The Runaway Bride" and it just didn't connect with me. I did appreciate the heartbroken state of the Doctor and Rose's shirt. But other than those mentions, I couldn't stand the plot. Maybe it was the idea that Earth was created by an ancient spider space ship. Just felt wrong. I said I'd rewatch it with the BBC commentary, and maybe I'll appreciate it more. Who episodes tend to have this affect on me.

OMG OMG OMG, Christopher Eccleston on Heroes. Around the time I found this out, I started liking the series more. I just never thought I would see him act in the US, but OMG YES. I've been searching the Internets for images or promo pics of him.

This is the best I could find: a screencap from the NBC promo. I've watched all of them, but this is all we're seeing of Claude, the invisible Brit. It looks like he's not used to people seeing him. GAH I cannot wait. I am so thrilled to see him; thinking about this makes me happy no matter what.

real life, doctor who, buffy, angel, heroes
