Prison Break and Emmy Analysis

Aug 29, 2006 00:44

So I was a little dismayed that I didn't love Prison Break last week, but I really liked it this week. I just think parts of the show are so unrealistic, like T-Bag getting his hand sewn on by a vet? That surgery is absurdly complicated for a team of surgeons, let alone a vet... That's actually bugging me the most. I'm not 100% certain why everyone is still in and around the city, I mean, they should have at least gotten to the next town over, right? I guess the problem with the show is how unbelievable it is. I guess if you get past that it's great. I'm a little concerned with how everyone is going their own way. Does this mean we'll have like 7 points of view to follow? Well if they off someone next week, that'll be 6 or w/e. Oh well, this ep kept my interest, so I'll soldier on with that then.

Now Emmys... Like the nominations, this was one big wtf. Take how My Name Is Earl won for best directing and best writing in a comedy series yet didn't even get nominated for best comedy... How about Carell losing for Best Actor? Or Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson both losing for Best Supporting Actress. Hell let's go back to why Grey's got shut out... Well I know why, it's trendy, and if you tell someone who doesn't watch the show that it is amazing, what do they do? They look at you and think you're a fangirly sheep...But that's not true with Grey's. It's an amazing show which is getting the viewers every show of it's caliber should get. Unfortunately most shows of that quality don't earn viewers and overly trendy stuff does. It's that superficial judging that keeps shows like Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls, and Battlestar Galactica from getting nominated... Maybe with a high profile shut out, they'll realize how stupid this show is and effect some serious change...

I think Stephen Colbert said it best: "I LOST TO BARRY MANILOW!"

That's another thing, the Colbert Report deserved the wins The Daily Show got. My mom started saying how it's unfair that it wins year after year, same with The Amazing Race or Tony Shalhoub...

Let's be honest though, what do I care about? FASHION. Well not trendy fashion, that's a rant for another post, but I love award show fashion :-)

Evangeline Lilly

She looked breathtaking. I mean, she looks perfect. What I love about this was this wasn't a big A-Lister. This wasn't your supermodel or Friend...This was the unknown actress cast into the big hit of 2005. By the end of the night, my mom knew exactly who she was. Everything about this gown worked, the shape, the color, EVERYTHING. I'm in awe.

Katherine Heigl

My jaw dropped when I saw this. This was perfection. I loved the hair and the eyes and... I loved that I saw her and not her boobs. Because she has a nice pair, but I saw Katherine Heigl. This was so classy and retro, it was trendless yet graceful. This would work in any decade any time. People knew her by the end of the night, and once again, she isn't your big name celeb.

prison break, lost, fashion, grey's anatomy, award shows, my name is earl, the office (us), emmys, the amazing race, the colbert report, misc. tv, the daily show
