After months and months of not making time for LJ, I thought I’d try again, only to find that the app has been removed from the App Store. Why

I wish I could say I broke my wrist punching Nazis or something awesome like that! But the truth is that I was walking home from a performance of the national tour of Broadway’s Into the Woods (which was terrific) one early April night, stepped off a curb that was a bit uneven, and fell into the street. In a subconscious effort to break my fall, I threw my hands forward, and broke my left wrist, instead. Had to have surgery to put everything back in place, with a small metal plate attached by several screws. Also needed a much bigger plate (it runs from my knuckles almost to my elbow) to keep everything in line; that one is just temporary, while the bones heal.
It will come out next month, which will be great, because I can’t do useful things like typing with it in there - it prevents me from bending or twisting my wrist. Of course, I’m also under doctors orders not to use that hand for anything weight-bearing at all - no lifting or holding anything.
The exoskeleton-looking brace above is my water-resistant one, which I wear while swimming. The rest of the time I wear a big black thing:
The surgeon said my broken wrist was the worst one he’s ever had to repair. Clearly I picked a bad time to overachieve! But I am being very careful in the hope that I will end up with as fully functional a wrist as possible. I’m in for several months of physical therapy, and will be wearing a brace (smaller, we hope) for many months to come, to protect the repairs.
Ow!! Hope it's fully functioning soon, and good luck with the therapy!
Putting your hands out to break a fall is such a basic instinct; it's a big cause of motorcycling injuries. I suppose it's better than faceplanting into the road??
