little Dorothy Steeves passed away. Carmen Bishop, as of last night when i was on that wing, was on end of life orders. Her children are not accepting it very well. They keep trying to feed her but she's not swallowing and could possibly aspirate if they continue. I suspect tonight she'd have been on NPO order. The children aren't accepting of it because a few years ago she went downhill, but bounced back. Highly doubtful she'll do it this time. Last night I spent 1/2 hour just sitting with her holding her hand until the morphine kicked in. Due to the morphine she was developing apenia. Eventually the morphine will be increase to numb the pain and to relax her struggling for breath. Her death will be cloaked in painfree sleep.
