Hey good news. I figured out the cause of all wars and all violence ever in the history of mankind. It's the perception of divisions. What I mean is, looking at someone and seeing "A Hindu" or "A Sunni" or "A black man." When we should be seeing "Somebody (also, he worships Brahma)" or "a man (also, he puts faith in Ali as well as Muhammed)" or "a dude (also, his ancestors came from Africa)." The perception that each of these groups are separate from the rest of everyone in some way because they share one thing in common is the cause of all of history's nastiness, at least that I can think of. The problem starts when you group people together and give them a name. What a difficult thing to avoid.
And because we in the US are so darn good at avoiding this phenomenon in our minds in recent history, it's difficult to explain it. It's just so non-present in our culture. Yes, it's semi-present when it comes to race. But we're working on breaking down those walls.
